My Meditation Practice


According to the ancient Indian philosophy, all living beings have body and soul. Here we restrict our discussion to human beings. The soul (Sanskrit: Jivatma) resides in the body. The human body, besides organic system, includes the senses and the gross intellect, which differ from person-to-person. The outer world views soul through mind. Mind is the human representation of soul and characterises behavioral aspects (Sanskrit: Sanskara) of a person, acquired in the present and past births. Meditation is a dialogue between the mind and the gross intellect. The gross intellect possesses the knowledge (transferred through tradition and scriptures) but yet to experience that. Mind must be involved to obtain the experience. Meditation could be called as a sort of self-counseling. What I learn in the mind-intellect dialogue, I put into practice. The titles of this collection reveal my experiences so far, in the process of learning and practicing for self-development. The process still continues.    

In each Chapter, I have included helpful tips to practice what is discussed, using meditation as a tool. 

I am confident, the book will be liked by thinkers, home makers, young achievers, executives and professionals.

Meditation and Controlled Breathing



Meditation and controlled breathing (Sanskrit: Pranayam) are parts of yoga (Sanskrit: Yog), an ancient Indian practice to maintain healthy mind and healthy body. Yoga is practiced in different forms, as household tradition in India. The ancient Indian scripture Bhagvad Gita discusses different facets of yoga. My liking for yoga originates in that tradition. According to that tradition, controlled breathing or Pranayam establishes the balance of cosmic energy (Sanskrit: Prana) in the body and meditation helps spiritual development. What physical exercise is for the body, meditation is for the mind. In this book, readers will find references to ancient Indian scriptures and philosophy on the subject. Sanskrit is the ancient Indian language of those scriptures.


In each Chapter, I have included helpful tips to practice what is discussed, using meditation as a tool.
